Statement
Why are we scared of the unknown? The shadows we see in the corner of our eyes. The presence we feel when we’re alone in the dark. Could it be that there lies something beyond our rational understanding...? Influenced by surrealism and horror; I explore the boundaries of dualism between our visible version of reality and the hidden, parallel world of the imaginary.

With my current practice, I’ve been experimenting with automatism to tap into my subconscious and create subtle yet uncertain worlds that are inhabited by my anthropomorphic chimerical creatures; both manifestations of the psyche. Underpinned by psychoanalysis and phenomenology, my paintings act as windows, portals or even mirrors and create a catalyst for an unconscious field between myself and the viewer.

Playing with cinematic techniques, I welcome you to step into these spaces but at the same time, I wish to challenge your perception and question what you’re seeing, as: "Imagination does not mean turning away from reality but reaching to the dynamic core of reality" (Effenberger).
